Areas of Work

The Libyan Authority for Heritage and Wildlife operates within an integrated institutional framework aimed at protecting cultural and natural heritage, conserving wildlife, and promoting the sustainability of biodiversity. This is achieved through the development of national policies and programs, as well as the strengthening of local and international partnerships.

The Authority focuses its work on the following key areas:

  • Protecting cultural and natural heritage as a fundamental component of national identity
  • Conserving wildlife and protecting endangered species
  • Combating illegal hunting (poaching) and strengthening environmental protection mechanisms
  • Safeguarding biodiversity and sensitive ecosystems
  • Developing and managing the national system of protected areas
  • Documenting national heritage and developing specialized databases
  • Promoting environmental and cultural awareness programs
  • Strengthening international cooperation in the fields of heritage and environmental protection
