Cultural Heritage Programs

The Libyan Authority for Heritage and Wildlife works to safeguard and preserve elements of intangible cultural heritage as a fundamental component of Libya’s national identity and civilizational memory. This is achieved through the support and organization of heritage programs and events that reflect Libya’s cultural diversity and the historical relationship between Libyan communities and their environment.
Within this framework, the Authority seeks to ensure the continuity of cultural heritage through the support and organization of activities related to traditional heritage, including:

  • Traditional Libyan dress events representing the country’s diverse cultural and regional identities
  • Equestrian programs related to Arabian horses as part of Libya’s historical heritage
  • Falconry activities as both a cultural and environmental heritage reflecting the historic relationship between humans and nature
  • Organization of national heritage festivals and cultural events
  • Support for Bedouin and desert heritage associated with traditional lifestyles

The Authority also works to promote public awareness of the importance of safeguarding intangible cultural heritage and to encourage initiatives that contribute to its transmission to future generations, in line with international principles and conventions for the protection of intangible cultural heritage.
